On Tuesday 5th December, we welcomed Scottish Labour Leader, Anas Sarwar, to our Warm Place in Pollokshaws.
The session in which Anas attended was hosted by our partners Save The Children.
This visit gave families the opportunity to speak to Anas about the challenges around access to services, life as a parent and the difference that organisations like Home-Start Glasgow South and Save The Children have made to their lives.
Fiona King, Policy & Public Affairs Officer at Save The Children said:
“With 1 in 4 children living in poverty in Scotland, our partnership working with Home-Start has never been so important. We work alongside Home-Starts across the country to provide cash grants to families who need it most. This event at Home-Start Glsagow South gave families the opportunity to speak to Anas about their own experiences of having young children and touch on issues which are most important to them.”
Colette Boyle, Director at Home-Start Glasgow South has said:
“We have been supporting local families on low income in the South of Glasgow since 2000 and we’re pleased Anas took the time to engage with parent’s and their children and find out more about the work we do with Save The Children to give children the best possible start in life.”
