Home-Start Glasgow South have been awarded £24,775.00 of funding from Bank of Scotland Foundation’s Reach Programme.
This award will be used to support our peer and parenting programme, including our new Community Club, The Warm Place.
Our club is aimed at families with pre-school children, offering a warm space, refreshments, and the opportunity to take part in activities. Funding through this award will help us to continue to run more activities at the The Warm Place throughout the year and create local employment opportunities for volunteers who help run the club weekly.
Our goal is to bring people together, helping families make connections in the local community, reduce isolation, and offer assistance and advice around rising costs and prices.
The club is held within Pollokshaws Burgh Hall, twice a week for 2 hours and families can join us for tea, coffee, and toast, in a welcoming environment. We also have a swap/shop where parents can bring old baby and children’s clothes and swap them for clothes donated by other families. Our group is centered on those attending and we speak with those who attend our group, to ensure that we are delivering activities which meet their needs.
HSGS Director Colette Boyle, “The Trustees and staff of HSGS are absolutely delighted to have been awarded this funding, ensuring that we can continue to support families and their children across the South Side of Glasgow. We know that 2023, with the cost-of-living crisis will be another challenging year and with this donation we can continue to deliver for families and ensure that our support reaches them when they need it most”.
