Family Support

What support does Home-Start Glasgow South provide?

Home-Start Glasgow South has been supporting families across the Southside of Glasgow since 2000. We work with families to help them overcome issues affecting their lives with a range of family support services. Issues like isolation, mental health challenges, bereavement, family breakdown, addiction, physical ill health and more.

There are a few ways in which we can support families. This includes our home visits and group support.

Volunteer Support

Our volunteer support is non-judgmental, free and confidential. A volunteer will visit a family, in their own home, for 2 or 3 hours a week, for as long as the family needs them or until the youngest child turns 8. Volunteers help in providing emotional and practical support, increasing confidence in parenting skills and building self-esteem in many families throughout the Southside of Glasgow.

My volunteer has supported me through my anxieties including awaiting my child’s autism diagnosis. They are the only person I have to confide in”

Intensive Family Support

For families that may have more pressing needs, we provide intensive family support through our dedicated team of family support workers. The team engage with local families on a one-to-one basis to help prevent them reaching crisis point.

I was over the moon with my support from our Family Support Worker, my family home is now more stable and feels more settled”
