On the 5th February 2025, The Promise Scotland turned 5 years old.

The Promise Scotland exists so that children in Scotland can grow up loved, safe and respected. Its foundations are based on the promise that Scotland made to care experienced children and young people.

Over the last few years, our Promise response has been focusing on Dads.

Lead by our Dad’s Co-ordinators Doug and Joseph, we have looked more closely at dad’s understanding of the care system, either from experiencing it themselves or form their child’s experiences, as well as having conversations with dads who have had more recent experiences with the perinatal or healthcare systems.

We delved further into the subject to look at what changes the system needs to make, how to be more inclusive of dads and what best practices could be followed for more immediate improvements.

Doug has created a really interesting report of their findings through this time, which is available to read now on our website on the ‘Our Impact’ page, or you can find it by clicking #.

Happy 5th Birthday to The Promise, may the next 5 years deliver exactly what is needed!
