Our Warm Place has been running weekly on a Tuesday since the beginning of October, and we have just added an additional session on a Wednesday morning.
The Warm Place aims to provide support to local families across the Southside of Glasgow who may be feeling the impact of the ongoing cost of living crisis. Parents and carers can come along after school drop off and receive a warm welcome, can have some free breakfast and browse warm items to take home in the Children’s Swap shop. Parents and carers can come along on their own, with friends or with their little ones to have some time to themselves or meet other families in the area.
Over the next few months, we will be linking up with community partners and businesses from South Glasgow area who will be on hand to provide families with any additional support or information they may need in areas such as budgeting, benefits, mental health and well-being or perinatal and early years support.
There has been incredible support from local business partnerships in response to the Warm Place. So far we have been provided with generous food donations from Asda Toryglen, Newlands Home Bakery, Tantrum Doughnuts and Waitrose Newton Mearns. Tesco Silverburn have also kindly donated warm children’s clothing, blankets and towels for our Swap Shop.
The Warm Place is open Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9.15 am – 11.30 am in the Pollokshaws Burgh Hall. You don’t have to be a family supported by Home-Start to join us, all parents/ carers welcome.
